Sunset spots in Mykonos before a night out, with sunset times for July and August

Little Venice, Paraportiani, the windmills and the lighthouse: where to see the sun set, with July and August sunset times.

In Mykonos the night starts with the sunset. Most of the classic spots are in Mykonos Town itself, a few minutes on foot from dinner and from WE ❤ MYK Club (WE LOVE MYK), where our 2026 nights opened at midnight, and the Armenistis lighthouse is a short drive away. Here are the places the island's municipality and Greece's national tourism site point to, the sunset times for July and August, and a simple timeline from golden hour to the dancefloor.

Little Venice and Alefkandra

The classic, and for good reason. Little Venice is the neighbourhood where the houses, with their colourful wooden balconies, are built right against the sea. The island's municipality names the bars of Alefkandra and Little Venice as the place for a first drink as the sun sets, with seats by the water or up on those balconies.

It is one of the town's most popular sunset spots in July and August, so arrive a little early to pick your place by the sea. From here, WE ❤ MYK Club is about five minutes on foot.

Panagia Paraportiani

At the edge of Little Venice, in the Kastro quarter, stands Panagia Paraportiani: a whitewashed church complex built in stages from the 15th century onwards, with four chapels at its base and a fifth on top. Greece's national tourism site suggests watching the sunset over it and arriving shortly before, when the low light turns the walls rose and gold.

It sits right beside the Little Venice waterfront, so you can take the photo here and have the drink there. The club is about five minutes away on foot.

Two Mykonos windmills against the setting sun, the sky glowing orange over the sea

The windmills of Kato Mili

Beside Little Venice stand the windmills, the island's trademark, looking out over the Aegean. Mykonos once had more than 20; seven survive, according to Greece's national tourism site. They stand on a low hill at the edge of town, a natural backdrop for a sunset photo.

From the windmills it is about nine minutes on foot to the club, and five to the Fabrika bus station if you are heading back to the south coast to change first.

Armenistis lighthouse

For a wider, wilder view, head north to the Armenistis lighthouse. It was built in 1891, after the steamship Volta was wrecked in 1887, it is still in service, and the municipality describes it overlooking Delos and Tinos. Greece's national tourism site recommends walking out to it for the views of the sea and the neighbouring islands.

It is about 6.4 km by road from the club, roughly 12 minutes by car, so it suits an evening with a car or a taxi. Give yourself time to get back to town for dinner after 21:00.

Sunset times for July and August

Times for Little Venice in summer 2026, Greek summer time: 1 July 20:44 · 15 July 20:40 · 1 August 20:27 · 15 August 20:12 · 25 August 19:58 · 30 August 19:51.

The sky keeps its colour for a while: civil twilight lasted roughly another half hour after sunset on those dates. Sunset times barely move from one year to the next, so the same list works for planning summer 2027.

From sunset to the club

A late-summer evening in Chora: sunset over Little Venice at about 20:00 at the end of August, a drink by the water, dinner from around 21:30 (Greece's national tourism site puts dinner after 21:00), a stroll through the lanes, and the club doors at midnight. All on foot, all in Chora.

In July, shift everything a little later: the sun sets between about 20:45 at the start of the month and 20:30 at the end, and there is still plenty of time to eat before midnight.

After sunset

Door times, tickets, ID and what to bring are in our guide to how a night out in Mykonos works. In 2026 the doors opened at midnight on every one of our nights, so a sunset at about 20:00 leaves you four hours of evening.
