Delos, the sacred island next door
In myth, Delos is where Apollo and Artemis were born, and the island holds the remains of one of the great cities of the Greco-Roman world, with its own archaeological museum. Boats leave several times a day from the small harbour in front of the church of Agios Nikolaos, on the Mykonos Town waterfront, and you buy your ticket at the kiosk by the boats. In summer 2026 the site and museum were open from 08:00 to 19:30, last entry 19:00, so Delos fits into the daytime, well before the club opens.
The site keeps a few simple rules: everyday clothes rather than swimwear, no food or smoking, and hands off the monuments. Bring water. The sea sets the day's sailings, so on a windy morning keep Ano Mera or the lighthouse as plan B.
Little Venice and the windmills
Two of the island's best-known views sit on the edge of Chora, five to ten minutes on foot from our club. Little Venice has houses built right over the water, with painted wooden balconies, and its bars are a classic spot for sunset drinks; the windmills of Kato Mili stand just beside it. At the end of August the sun sets at around 20:00, in July between about 20:30 and 20:45. Our sunset article lists the spots.
A beach on the south coast
From Fabrika, on the southern edge of town, buses run to Platis Gialos, Psarou, Ornos, Agios Ioannis, Paradise and Paraga. At Platis Gialos you can switch to the caiques that carry on along the coast to Super Paradise, Agrari and Elia. Head back to town in the early evening and there is time to change before dinner.
Inland and up to the lighthouse
For a change of scene, Ano Mera is the island's inland village, about 8 km from Chora, with the monastery of Panagia Tourliani on its square and tavernas known for grilled meat and kopanisti, the local spicy cheese. The Armenistis lighthouse, in service since 1891, looks out towards Delos and Tinos and is about twelve minutes by car from our club. Back in town, the Archaeological Museum of Mykonos opened from 09:00 to 16:00 in 2026, closed on Tuesdays.
