Back in town for sunset, and the night is all yours.
The south coast beaches of Mykonos are a string of sandy coves a short ride from town. Buses leave from Fabrika, beach boats hop between the bays, and by car the nearest ones are under ten minutes from Mykonos Town. Here is how to reach each stretch, and how to plan a beach day that still leaves you fresh for midnight.
The south coast at a glance
From Mykonos Town the roads run south to a coast of sandy coves, one after another. Closest to town, on the west, are Ornos and Agios Ioannis. Then come Psarou and Platis Gialos, then Paraga, Paradise and Super Paradise, and further east Agrari, Elia and Kalo Livadi.
Every stretch has its own feel, from calm family bays to beaches known for music from midday. Pick by mood, then by how you want to get there.
From the club by car
Ornos about 8 min, Platis Gialos 10, Paradise 12, Kalo Livadi 14, Super Paradise 16, Elia 17. Routes measured on OpenStreetMap.

Ornos and Agios Ioannis
Ornos sits at the back of a large, sheltered bay facing south. It is the first of the southern beaches, with a small fishing harbour, hotels, restaurants and café-bars open from morning to late evening, and boats leave from here for the other southern beaches.
Agios Ioannis, on the south-west tip of the island, looks straight across the water at Delos and suits an easy, relaxed swim. Both are on the Fabrika–Ornos–Agios Ioannis bus line; by car, Ornos is about 8 minutes from the club and Agios Ioannis about 9.
Psarou and Platis Gialos
Psarou is a beautiful, fully organised beach with water sports, fine sand and emerald water. You reach it by bus, by car or by boat from Ornos and Platis Gialos.
Platis Gialos, next door, is a long sandy beach lined with hotels and restaurants. Most KTEL services head here, and it is the main starting point for the caiques that run east along the coast. By car it is about 10 minutes from the club.
Paraga, Paradise and Super Paradise
This is the stretch the south coast is famous for. Paraga is a pretty little beach looking out to Cape Drapanos, with beach bars and tavernas and frequent buses. Paradise, called Kalamopodi in Greek, is a long beach that has drawn visitors since the hippie years; its beach venues keep the music going from midday into the early hours. Super Paradise, or Plintri, is known for its parties on the sand.
Paraga and Paradise have buses from Fabrika and boats from Platis Gialos. Super Paradise is reached by boat or by road, about 16 minutes by car from the club.
Agrari, Elia and Kalo Livadi
Further east the bays open out. Agrari is a quieter cove with crystal-clear water and water sports. Elia, one of the stops of the beach boats from Platis Gialos, has fine sand and easy access, and the municipality counts it among the most beautiful beaches on the island. Kalo Livadi, between Elia and Kalafatis, is one of the largest beaches of Mykonos, with music from its beach venues setting the mood until the evening.
By road the eastern beaches are reached via Ano Mera: Kalo Livadi is about 14 minutes by car from the club and Elia about 17.
Bus or boat: how to get there
KTEL buses to Ornos, Agios Ioannis, Psarou, Platis Gialos, Paradise and Paraga leave from Fabrika, on Agios Loukas Square at the south edge of Chora. Elia and Kalafatis have their own lines from town. Timetables and some stops change with the season, so check your line on mykonosbus.com before you set off.
The beach boats are daytime hops along the coast from Ornos and Platis Gialos to Paraga, Paradise, Super Paradise, Agrari and Elia. They are the scenic way to reach the eastern bays and to see the coast from the water.
Hop along the coast
By day, caiques link Ornos and Platis Gialos with Paraga, Paradise, Super Paradise, Agrari and Elia.
Beach day, club night
Plan the day backwards from midnight. Sand in the morning or early afternoon, shade in the hottest hours, then back to town in time to shower and catch the sunset, around 20:00 at the end of August. Dinner in Chora, and the doors of WE ❤ MYK Club open at 00:00.
July and August bring the summer heat and the meltemi, the north wind that keeps the island fresh. Drink plenty of water through the day and you will have energy left for the dance floor.
