Getting around Mykonos at night is easiest on foot: Mykonos Town is compact and WE ❤ MYK Club sits on its harbour front. For the rest of the island you have the KTEL buses, taxis with dispatch lines open 24 hours a day, the SeaBus between the two ports and, by day, the beach boats. Timetables change with the season, so this guide explains how each option works and where to check the current times.

On foot in Mykonos Town

Chora is compact and its old lanes are made for walking, so your feet are the best transport on a night out. From WE ❤ MYK Club: Little Venice and the Paraportiani church about 5 minutes, the Old Port bus stop about 6, the Kato Mili windmills and Fabrika bus station about 9.

The lanes are paved with whitewashed stones. Comfortable, flat shoes make the walk to the club and back a pleasure.

Walking times from the club

Little Venice and Paraportiani about 5 min, Old Port bus stop 6, Kato Mili windmills and Fabrika bus station 9.

KTEL buses

The island's public buses are run by KTEL Mykonos, which publishes its timetables and sells tickets online at mykonosbus.com. In Chora there are three departure points. Fabrika, on Agios Loukas Square at the south edge of town, serves Ornos, Agios Ioannis, Psarou, Platis Gialos, Paradise and Paraga. The square behind the OTE building, at the entrance to town from the port, serves Ano Mera, Kalafatis and Elia. The Old Port pier serves the New Port and Agios Stefanos.

In peak season, the municipality says, buses run to the most popular destinations until 04:00, which makes them a real option for the way home. Timetables and some stops change with the season, so check your line on mykonosbus.com before you go out.

Buses until 04:00

In peak season KTEL serves the most popular destinations until 04:00. Check the current timetable on mykonosbus.com.

Taxis

You find taxis at the rank in Mykonos Town, in front of the OTE building, and at Fabrika, or you can call the dispatch lines, open 24 hours a day, on 22890 23700 and 22890 22400. Fares are worked out on the distance travelled.

After a night at the club, the Fabrika rank is about nine minutes' walk away. In high summer, agree the ride home with your group before you go out, and share a car if you are staying in the same area.

The airport run

Mykonos Airport (JMK) is about 3.5 to 4 km from the centre of town, 7 to 9 minutes by car. The bus stop is right in front of the terminal at Arrivals, and you buy your ticket from the driver; buses link the airport with Mykonos Town. The taxi rank is just outside Arrivals, and the terminal has ATMs and currency exchange.

Flying in from the mainland is quick: about 45 minutes from Athens and 1 hour 10 minutes from Thessaloniki.

Landing at JMK

The bus stop and the taxi rank are right outside Arrivals. Town is about 3.5–4 km away: 7 to 9 minutes by car.

Ferries, ports and the SeaBus

Mykonos has two ports: the Old Port in Chora and the New Port at Tourlos, about 3 km north, 7 minutes by car. Your ferry ticket shows which one you use.

Between the two, the SeaBus crosses every half hour, takes luggage and is accessible. It is a short, inexpensive hop that drops you right in town. Buses also link the New Port with the Old Port and with Fabrika.

Beach boats

By day, caiques hop along the south coast from Ornos and Platis Gialos to Paraga, Paradise, Super Paradise, Agrari and Elia. They are the scenic way to reach the eastern bays: use them for the beach day, and the bus or a taxi for the evening.

Car or moped

Rental desks are at the port and the airport. You need a valid licence issued in your country of residence at least one year earlier (some companies ask for two), and drivers with a licence from outside the EU or EEA may need an International Driving Permit.

On club nights, keep it simple: park up, walk in town and take a taxi or the bus home.

Plan the way back before you go out

Staying in Chora: you walk home. Staying on the south coast: check the last bus to your beach that night, or share a taxi. Staying near the New Port: bus or taxi. Settle it before the doors open at midnight and the rest of the night takes care of itself. The where-to-stay guide compares each base, measured from the club door.
